Lebo Elementary is a PreK - 5th grade building and has an enrollment of approximately 112 students. There is one section of each grade in the building and our class sizes range from 12 to 22. We are proud to boast a strong tradition of academic achievement. Lebo Elementary has earned the high honors of "Standard of Excellence" from the State of Kansas for the past 5 years in both Reading and Math, and the Governor's Achievement Award for the 2012 year.
Dear Parents and Guardians.
I am writing to inform you that Lebo Elementary School is preparing for the upcoming eclipse on Monday. We are extremely excited and our entire school is preparing for the event. As a former science teacher I want to let you know that there is a lot of misinformation out there about the solar eclipse. The light from the solar eclipse is no more dangerous than the regular sunshine. The only real difference is that students could possibly stare at it longer due to the decreased visible intensity. We are preparing our classes with information to help assure that this does not happen.
I have purchased glasses and receive a very generous donation from Wolf Creek Power Plant to us as well and I’ve made sure that all of them are ISO compliant. We will be viewing the solar eclipse from the football field on Monday. Our student safety is our number one priority at all Lebo Public Schools. However I also respect your right to protect your child in the way that you see fit so if you wish that your child not participate in this event please return this letter to Lebo a public school.
